I played volleyball for years (badly) and one day I arrived to the hall early and saw people playing dodgeball. The next week I gave it a try, and I haven’t played volleyball since. My dodgeball journey has taken me across the south, playing for teams in Bristol, South Wales, Plymouth, Chippenham and London. I supported the setting up of a new club in Bristol in July 2024 which has been very successful so far. The main challenge I have faced is the significant gender gap in dodgeball participation in the southwest, and consequently the lack of women’s competitive events in the first few years of playing. I believe this meant my skill plateaued for a long time. Since moving further north and participating in predominantly women’s events, I have gained a lot more skill and confidence.
